12 Gifts of Christmas

Tags til Christmas

These are the last two gifts in my 12 gifts of Christmas series. These are quick and easy to do, but show how easily you can personalize or dress up a simple little gift to give it that special touch.

The first is a popular idea, just fill a mug with baked goods or goodies of any kind and package it up with a pretty bow and tag. I actually bought this already packaged and just added the tag and bow.

Bells and Boughs

I made a bunch of these little candles for myself. I love the scented holiday candles, but when I buy the yummy smelling ones, I am hungry all the time! So I like to buy the votive candles and just burn them for a short time. I added our glass glitter to the base of the candle and they look so sparkly and festive in a little crystal holder. Just paint some glue on the candle and roll it in the glitter. Our glass glitter is so pretty. It’s made from real glass and gets a really nice antique look as it ages. Pop a couple of these candles in a cello bag with a topper for a nice little gift.

Thanks for looking!

Over the next few weeks I’ll be highlighting several gift Ideas that are perfect for holiday giving. I’ll be covering a lot of different gift options and decided to start with one that is quick and easy and inexpensive.

This cute little collection of tags is one of those simple little items that you can tuck in to a festive gift basket as a little extra or is great when you need a bunch of inexpensive gifts. Our PTA used to give a little something to each teacher and support staff each day of the week leading up to the Christmas break and this would be perfect for that. It would also be a great item if you wanted to leave a little something on all of your co-workers desks.

Who can’t use a few extra Christmas tags for those last minute gifts? I literally stamped this in less than 10 minutes. I stamped a bunch of images on Whisper White card stock and punched them out using various punches. This set is wonderful, because each stamp has a coordinating punch.(AND it is on sale this month for 20% off when you buy it with the Decorative Label punch!) It took no time at all. I layered a few on additional punched pieces and added to/from on the back of a few. To finish them off, I tied string on about half of them and put a strip of sticky strip on the back of the rest. The recipient can simply peel off the pink cover and their tag will be self adhesive.

Tip: A needle threader was a huge help in pulling the thread through the tags as well as pulling the ribbon through the small punched holes on the topper. This is the method I used to attach the topper to the cello bag.

Quick Designer Series Paper projects!

Oval All

These projects went together very quickly using our Designer series paper and Big Shot Dies, punches and stamps to match.

This little thank you card uses the Big Shot Petal Card die and the Sweet Slumber DSP. I didn’t get a picture of it, but I used a self adhesive piece from the Sweet Nothings Simply Scrappin’ Kit that fit perfectly inside the card and I wrote my sentiment on that.

The tag was stamped on Baja Blue card stock using the Oval All Stamp set from the current Occasions mini catalog. It was punched out using the new Scalloped Oval punch from the same mini. I mounted it on another punched piece using the Wide Oval Punch. I stamped and punched an extra butterfly with the 1/2 inch circle punch and mounted it on a Build a Brad which I then used to attach the tag to a piece of ribbon from the Valet Ribbon Originals.

Oval All

This box was cut from Regal Rose textured card stock which is also on sale this month. It was cut using the Bigz XL box #2 die.

I punched an oval from the front of the box using the Scalloped Oval Punch and then glued a piece of window sheet on the inside of the box so you could see the contents but still keep it contained.

I quickly put together a tag using the oval punched piece and another piece that was made using the Oval All stamp set and the Large Oval Punch. I added Dazzling Diamond glitter to the stamped piece, tied the box together using White taffeta ribbon and attached the tag using glue dots.

Very simple, quick and easy little projects to make, but the DSP and textured card stock really give them a special look.

Pillow Boxes and Tags

pillow boxes

I have been playing some more with my Big Shot and this time the pillow box die that I just got. Aren’t these cute!?

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the die cut craze, I’ll show a few pictures tomorrow, so you’ll know what I am talking about.

These little pillow boxes are made just like the larger ones that we cut from a pattern and score, only they are much smaller and the scoring is done for you.

pillow box

This one uses the snow flakes from Merry and Bright, embossed in silver detail EP. The tags are also embossed in silver and cut out.

The Spot Light on Christmas set makes really quick tags, because they  work with our punches.

The card stock is Brocade Blue and Brushed Silver.

glitter glue

Here is a really cool tip for you……

My favorite way to apply glitter is to put down a few drops of Crystal Effects and sprinkle some dazzling diamonds on it. It gives the glitter a dimensional look, and it is beautiful! It is also very messy, just ask any hostess how long it lingers around her home after a stamp party!

Now you can make your own glitter glue. Just clean out a small container (I used an old glitter bottle, you can use an ink refill bottle when you are through with it) Fill it one third to half full with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and then fill your bottle the rest of the way with Crystal Effects. Use a tooth pick to mix it together well.  You can also have colored glitter by adding a few drops of your favorite color of ink. The best part is that it goes on with much less mess! Of course, if you love wearing glitter and just don’t feel completely made up without a little dazzle from head to toe, you can always sprinkle a little more glitter on top, for when you need blinding sparkle.

Here is another tip…..keep your new Dazzle Effects and your Crystal Effects stored upside down. It will keep the lid from clogging and will also keep the bubbles to a minimum. It will also keep your glitter sifted to the top of the bottle where you want it. And one more tip, If you are going to travel with your Dazzle or Crystal Effects, keep them upside down but carry them in a plastic baggy and check that the lids are very tight. Yeah, don’t ask.

acetate pillow box

OK, making an acetate pillow box from a pattern would be kind of tricky, but it is super easy with the Pillow Box Bigz die. You may need to do a little extra scoring with a stylus to get a really good crease, but these things pop together really quickly. All you need is one little strip of glue or sticky strip down the flap.

I just used an acetate transparency from the office supply store

Merry and Bright

Aren’t the see through boxes fun?

I used Merry and Bright and some Dazzle Effects on this tag. The Colors are Real Red, Glorious Green, and Green Galore to match the M&M’s.

Happy Stampin’,
