What Does the Fox Say?

life in the forest

life in the forest

I have to admit that I bought this set, just so I could make a “What does the fox say?” card for my grandbaby. The set isn’t my style so much, but I NEEDED that fox! The rest of the critters are growing on me though, and I have thought of several other cute card ideas already.

This had to be the valentine for Aubrey this year though, because she LOVES the song and plays it over and over. I downloaded it to her little tablet that she got for Christmas, so I wouldn’t have to listen to it any more!! If you don’t know what I am talking about, just google “What does the fox say?” and watch the video. A spoof gone viral. Way beyond viral, actually.

Just basic stamping here, and I used blender pens and ink pads to color in the fox and trees.

Aubrey, who is in pre-k this year, pointed out that I needed to color more carefully and try to stay inside the lines. I tried to explain that it was a watercolor method which gives the artist creative license to go outside the lines on occasion and that it actually lends itself to the fluid, unconfined nature of the technique. Or something like that. She interrupted me mid explanation with an impatient pat on the hand and said “It’s OK Nana, just try to do better next time.” Ah, Mrs. Roy….. grasshopper has learned well. I felt like giving myself a punch on my behavior ticket and putting myself down for a nap. I am pretty sure she’s not going to buy my story of artistic intent on the over spray of smooch spritz inside the card either, but I have learned my lesson. That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

Aren’t the Word Bubble framelits a HOOT though!??! I love them and I think they will be used A LOT. Scrapbook pages, cards, This and That. So many fun ideas.

I hope you get to stamp today!!

Wonderfall Thoughts

Wonderfall

This is a card that we made for stamp camp last year that I never posted. We used a lot of tools for this one as you can tell from the supply list! It wasn’t a difficult card though, just stamping, sponging and die cutting. The die we used wasn’t a framelit, but rather a bigz die. The stamps are made to work with  the die; so the easiest way to use them together is to cut the card stock first, and then lay the diecut on the inked stamp with it facing image up. Then rub from the back of the paper.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Here is a a simple but pretty card that we made at Stamp Camp this month.

The background is made by sponging (with daubers) ink onto a clear acrylic block and then spritzing with Alcohol. It needs to be fairly wet. Allow the colors to run together a bit and then “stamp” the block on your card stock to create the Background. I suggest letting it dry completely and then ironing the back of the card stock or pressing it in a book for a few days to straighten out any warping caused by the alcohol.

I stamped the goose image once on the background once it was dry and then stamped it again on Very Vanilla card stock. I used blender pens to color in the goose and then cut it out (just the body) and popped it up over the original stamped image. The sentiment, button and linen thread finished off the card.

I hope you are enjoying this lovely fall weather that is inspiring my creations! Be sure to check out the new weekly specials, packaging bundles and MDS specials for November. You can view them on my Specials Page.

Another Thank You

Another Thank You

We used the embossing resist technique on this simple card that we made for Stamp Camp last month. Embossing resist is an easy technique where you emboss your focal image in clear ink on your white or vanilla card stock and then stamp over it with your background images. The ink won’t stick to the Clear Embossing (after it has been heated). When you wipe the ink away from your embossed image (with a soft tissue) the original card stock color shows through.

On this card we stamped the large Thank you image from Another Thank You on Very Vanilla card stock and then over stamped it with the background leaves from Gently Falling. We then sponged any remaining uninked cardstock with a light rub of So Saffron to make the entire image pop. Then we just layered that piece on our Old Olive card stock base. Easy Peasy.

Thanks for looking

Gently Falling Grunge

Gently falling

I used the Gorgeous Grunge set to  “grunge” up this quick fall card. It’s a fun and  simple technique. I sponged and roughed up the edges to add a little more distressing. I love the size of the stamps in this set, they are large enough to add a lot of detail in a very short time. Adding the washi tape over the image gives it even more depth, because of the semi translucent nature of the tape. This was one of our Stamp Camp cards this month. Quick and fun.

Be sure to check out the Thankful Thursday deal today. There are several punches specially priced at only $11.16! Artisan Label, Bitty Butterfly, Hexagon, Mosaic, Pansy

Happy Stampin!

Wonderfall

Wonderfall

I really like how this turned out.  I love that fall weather is finally here and this card  reminds me of a walk outside. I frayed the burlap ribbon to give it a wispier feel.

I used a Variegated stamping technique to get the multicolored look on the leaf. The leaf stamp was inked up in Crushed Curry, and then Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler were added with sponge daubers before stamping the image on Very Vanilla card stock. The rhinestones were colored with Sharpie markers.

Thanks for stopping by!

I am hoping to change over to my new theme this weekend, so I’ll have several posts coming over the next couple of days! Today’s Thankful Thursday special is Washi Tape

129314 Gingham Garden  $3.71 (regular price 4.95)
132156 Witches Brew  $3.71 (regular price 4.95)

I am also announcing a Mystery Hostess event for the month. See the details below.

another thank you1

This card is done with the new photopolymer set called Another Thank You. I embossed the thank you image and then stamped the leaves. I trimmed the edges of the burlap ribbon to give it a different look. I also used some of the trimmed strands to  add to the wispy fall look.

Another Thank You

I finished off the bow with an antique brad and held the leaves in place with little copper safety pins. Bring on the fall weather!

Mystery Hostess Event!

Thankful Thursdays is a great reason to kick off a Mystery Hostess event using the new Hostess code! You can place orders in the online store and link to a particular workshop. Your order placed in the online store will ship immediately, but the workshop can be held open all month. You could take advantage of each Thursday’s special and possibly earn Hostess rewards for the event as well! Each time you place an order this month you will entered in the drawing for the hostess rewards. This workshop will also be eligible for the extra hostess benefits!
It is really easy to order in the online store.

Here is the Hostess code for this event

GJGTYCGT

Enter this code when you place your order in My Online Store. There is a hostess code box at the bottom of the page to enter it.There is a minimum shipping charge in the online store. You can still place orders by email, but I won’t be able to add them to this particular Mystery Hostess event because of the one day specials and I would have to hold the order till the end of the month. If you have any trouble ordering in the online store, just call me and I’ll help you through it.

Good luck on being the next Mystery Hostess!

Masculine Valentine

Masculine Valentine

Masculine cards are difficult for me. Probably because when I see the new catalogs, I go nuts over all of the froufrou things that I love and then when I sit down to make a card for the male species, I haven’t got any masculine things to work with. I’ve raised girls. I must confess, I love pink stuff. Then I saw this paper. There is nothing pink, delicate or girly about it, but I love it! I think it is great for all kinds of scrapbook projects, as well as masculine and vintage projects. I completed the card with embossed hearts which I cut with our new Framelits and the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit die.

Tomorrow, back to the froufrou!
