What Does the Fox Say?

life in the forest

life in the forest

I have to admit that I bought this set, just so I could make a “What does the fox say?” card for my grandbaby. The set isn’t my style so much, but I NEEDED that fox! The rest of the critters are growing on me though, and I have thought of several other cute card ideas already.

This had to be the valentine for Aubrey this year though, because she LOVES the song and plays it over and over. I downloaded it to her little tablet that she got for Christmas, so I wouldn’t have to listen to it any more!! If you don’t know what I am talking about, just google “What does the fox say?” and watch the video. A spoof gone viral. Way beyond viral, actually.

Just basic stamping here, and I used blender pens and ink pads to color in the fox and trees.

Aubrey, who is in pre-k this year, pointed out that I needed to color more carefully and try to stay inside the lines. I tried to explain that it was a watercolor method which gives the artist creative license to go outside the lines on occasion and that it actually lends itself to the fluid, unconfined nature of the technique. Or something like that. She interrupted me mid explanation with an impatient pat on the hand and said “It’s OK Nana, just try to do better next time.” Ah, Mrs. Roy….. grasshopper has learned well. I felt like giving myself a punch on my behavior ticket and putting myself down for a nap. I am pretty sure she’s not going to buy my story of artistic intent on the over spray of smooch spritz inside the card either, but I have learned my lesson. That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

Aren’t the Word Bubble framelits a HOOT though!??! I love them and I think they will be used A LOT. Scrapbook pages, cards, This and That. So many fun ideas.

I hope you get to stamp today!!

Chalkboard Art Technique

Chalk technique

This is the masculine card that we made at Stamp Camp last month for Valentines Day. I really like the way it turned out, so I used it for my Darling husband’s valentine. He loved the new technique. The technique is very simple. Add a chalkboard background by rubbing a little chalk or white ink on black or green card stock with a sponge. I like to emboss my main images using white ep to make them easier to work with. You can then add depth, detail and even color with colored pencils or our white chalk pen. Add additional elements by stamping in white ink with no embossing. Be sure to add those elements after the embossing or they will grab your powder.

Have fun trying this technique!

Hearts A Flutter Framelits

Delightful Dozen

Here is a really quick and simple card. I used the Hearts a Flutter framelits for the larger hearts and then I stamped and hand cut the smallest heart from the More Amore specialty DSP. I added some embossing to some of the pieces and stamped a simple sentiment. I really like the way it turned out. Clean and simple cards are the hardest for me, for some reason!

Happy Stampin’

Hearts A Flutter

Hearts a Flutter

Here is a sweet and simple valentine, created using the Hearts a Flutter set from the Spring Mini. Love that lacy heart stamp. I used a small strip of my Sweet Shop DSP (that is still on sale in the Clearance rack for $2.59. How FAB is that!?) The ribbon is from the Sale-a-bration Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack. It is so nice to work with. I am hoarding this stuff.

Thanks for looking!

That’s the Ticket

That's the Ticket

When I started this card, I planned to use the Hearts a Flutter set, but I started playing with the More Amore DSP and it took on a life of it’s own. The heart is snipped from one of the laser-cut sheets. It’s really just basic stamping and a little heat embossing. I sponged some Primrose Petals ink on the doily to make it blend a little better with the paper. The That’s the Ticket set, added the perfect finishing touch. There is so much to LOVE in this new Spring Catalog. It’s so easy to get beautiful cards with all of the wonderful new embellishments and tools!

I hope you get to stamp today!
