Sweet and Simple Yippee Skippee

Yippee Skippee

This was a card that we did for Stamp Camp a while back.  The washi tape is so great for quick and simple cards. All we did for this one was stamp the sentiment and add a strip of washi tape from the Ghingham Garden trio. The cupcakes were made using the Cupcake Builder punch. The cupcake tops are embossed and I trimmed a little piece from an Espresso cherry to create the chocolate dipped cherry. The Espresso cupcake bottom was crimped and the other was covered with the same washi tape. The Early Espresso bakers twine finishes it off nicely. Originally, I was going to put the cupcakes on another layer, but I liked the clean and simple look of just popping them up on the card base. An easy card and lots of fun to put together.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Oh Hello

Oh hello

These are two of my favorite things from the Spring Catalog that expires in just a few days! I am thrilled that both the Oh Hello, stamp set and the DSP pattern made it into the new catalog! Although the paper is in a different color combination, so I’ll be getting more of this color before it goes away on the 31st. I am completely fixated on Calypso Coral lately! I love how these work together with the doilies. Kind of contemporary shabby chic.

Secret Garden

Secret Garden

I have been wanting to make a floral card using the Perfectly Preserved jar image since I got the set. This card was inspired by one I skimmed past on pinterest a while back, I don’t know who to credit, but the design has been haunting me. I have to admit that I burned myself out on flower cards and haven’t played with any of my floral sets in quite some time, but I thought I would give Secret Garden a shot. I love several of the flowers in the set and the fact that it has a matching Framelit set for cutting them out was all it took to convince me. I am officially falling in love with floral cards again!

I had to stamp the jar on acetate…..also something that I have thinking about for a while. The Perfectly Preserved set is still available by the way, at least until the Spring Catalog expires. I just love the white flowers against the Crumb Cake! The sentiment stamp is from the new catalog and is called Label Love. There is a matching punch….so even more to love!

Thanks for stopping by!

For the Birds

For the Birds

It took me a while to warm up to Daffodil Delight. It’s a happy yellow that isn’t as glaring as the old YoYo Yellow. I think it was my absolute aversion to the old neon yellow that kept me from embracing our more contemporary offering. Now that I have, I just can’t leave it alone!  Then again, maybe I am just in a cheery, summery mood. I have a feeling that is about to change, with all of the Holiday Catalog goodies I have to play with now. For today though, it is sunny, summer fun with this card using the For the Birds stamp set.

Happy Stampin!

Storybook Friends

Storybook friends

Meet my favorite new product suite in this catalog! I love this Storybook Friends set and the matching Storytime DSP. It’s so cute, sweet and nostalgic! Lots of new products on this card. I am so glad I finally got to play with some of my new stuff. The new Polka Dot Parade makes me joyful! I will be using every scrap of this stuff.

Don’t you just love the lacy little red border at the bottom? This is done with some really fun new tools. I used the Delicate Designs folders to make the lace border and then I cut the scallop at the bottom with the Large Scallop Edgelit. Then, last but not least, I LOVE the new Delicate Doilies Sizzlet die! The catalog lists the largest doily at 1 3/8″ Diameter, but as you can see it is 3 3/8″. I will be using these little darlings a LOT!

Thanks for stopping by!

Four Seasons

Four Seasons

Here is a quick and easy card that we made for stamp camp this month. For those of you who may be wondering, yes I own other ink pads! I promise I will force myself out of this Baja Breeze/Daffodil Yellow mode. I just love this stamp set. It is a hostess set. We have some really great hostess sets, this catalog season. LOVE them all!

Speaking of ink pads…..OH MY! When Stampin’ Up! announced that they had reconfigured the ink pads, I thought, “Oh, that’s nice, but I don’t see the need to replace the colors I already own”. THEN, I received my new In Colors and I was completely blown away by the difference in these pads!! It only takes a couple of light taps to get amazing coverage and a perfect sharp and vivid image every time. They are juicy and wonderful and still have all of the other great functions of our retired pads. So then I thought, OK, I’ll replace them slowly. Then demo math got the best of me and with the great Hostess incentive going on right now, I have replaced half of my pads. I waited 3 weeks, it SEEMED like a lifetime, anyway. All that to say…..You are going to LOVE the new firm foam pads!!!!

Apothecary Art Framed Latch

apothecary art

Hello! OK, if we can get a break from medical issues at our house, I think I’ll finally be back to stamping and blogging! This is a special fold card with a frame that also serves as a latch. Lots of fun.  The picture below shows how it opens.

apothecary art

You create the frame by laying two dies on your cardstock and running them through the Big Shot together. Then you attach them to the card by only adding adhesive to half of the frame and focal piece and attaching them to opposite sides of the gatefold to create an interlocking latch. The ribbon creates a pull for easy opening. I added color to the embossed base by using the direct to paper technique and drawing two colors across the already embossed images. This requires a very light touch, but I love the pop of color that it adds when you need a little extra something on your card. I’ll try to get a tutorial made for this card, so you can try one for yourself, we made these at stamp camp and workshops this month.

Thanks for looking!
