Be Merry Gift Box

punchboardbox8

Today I have tutorial to share. This is a gift box made from a 12 x 12 piece of card stock. I used our Natural Composition specialty DSP because it is a thicker card stock and it has beautifully embossed images on it, so your box is already decorated. After a little scoring and punching with the Envelope punch board, you make 4 simple cuts and then fold your box and tie it up. Add a quick tag for a beautiful gift presentation. The finished box is 5 1/2″ square and 2 3/4″ deep. Enjoy the tutorial!

Begin with a 12 x 12 piece of card stock or dsp. Line each side of the cs at 4 inches, punch and then score as far as you can on the board.

Punchboard Box

It won’t score all the way across. Just score as far as you can, because the next step will finish the score line for you. In the picture below you can see where the lines don’t quite meet.

punchboardbox2

Flip the card stock over and do the same thing from the back. Line the edge at 4 inches and score down till your lines intersect with the score lines from the other side. These lines will form the box bottom. The lines that extend beyond the box bottom to the edges of the card stock, will form your box sides.

punchboardbox3
Line the bottom edge of the v punch with the scoring groove on the punch board as shown below and score again to create your box side and flap. You are still scoring from the back.

punchboardbox4

Cut in from each side as shown to create your flap, which will allow the box to fold in. Be sure to only cut up to the score line.

punchboardbox5

When you are finished cutting, opposite sides of the box should have 2 side flaps, which will fold in to secure the sides of the box. The opposing sides will not have side flaps, only a flap which will help to form the box top. Add adhesive to each of the flaps and fold in to form the box.

punchboardbox6

Fold the top flaps in to close the box. You can secure with adhesive if you like. I add a punched circle under the bottom two flaps to make the box a little sturdier. Finish it off with a bow and tag!

Spooky Treat Bag

Bite Me

Most of the projects from my newsletter are different projects that you won’t see on my blog, but I had to share this one here. I love stamping directly on the treat bags and adding a simple tag.

The framelit from Chalk Talk is perfect for that. Not only does it have the opening at the top that lets you just pop it over your ribbon, since it is a framelit you can make it any length you want. I lengthened it to make the sentiment from Halloween Bash fit.

This bag holds 4 large Chocolate Chip cookies.  These bags are food safe, but to keep the oil from the cookies off the bag, I first packaged them in the food safe gusseted cello bags (on the clearance rack for only $1.59 for 25 bags!)

Perfect Blend

Perfect Blend

Here is one of the cards that we will be making for stamp camp tomorrow. Love this new Perfect Blend set and the Coastal Cabana paper! The paper is from the Afternoon Picnic DSP pack. I was a little bummed that they carried the design over from the Spring Catalog (Tea for Two) but changed up the colors. I am crazy for Calypso coral, but not really a purple and blue or teal fan. When I opened the new pack though, I was surprised at how much I liked the combo. Those colors are just beautiful together!

I drew in the “coffee rings” with a marker using the new circle framelits as a guide. The splatter stamp is from one of the My Paper Pumpkin kits. I hope you make it to camp tomorrow to grab your new catalog!!

Secret Garden

Secret Garden

I have been wanting to make a floral card using the Perfectly Preserved jar image since I got the set. This card was inspired by one I skimmed past on pinterest a while back, I don’t know who to credit, but the design has been haunting me. I have to admit that I burned myself out on flower cards and haven’t played with any of my floral sets in quite some time, but I thought I would give Secret Garden a shot. I love several of the flowers in the set and the fact that it has a matching Framelit set for cutting them out was all it took to convince me. I am officially falling in love with floral cards again!

I had to stamp the jar on acetate…..also something that I have thinking about for a while. The Perfectly Preserved set is still available by the way, at least until the Spring Catalog expires. I just love the white flowers against the Crumb Cake! The sentiment stamp is from the new catalog and is called Label Love. There is a matching punch….so even more to love!

Hearts A Flutter Framelits

Delightful Dozen

Here is a really quick and simple card. I used the Hearts a Flutter framelits for the larger hearts and then I stamped and hand cut the smallest heart from the More Amore specialty DSP. I added some embossing to some of the pieces and stamped a simple sentiment. I really like the way it turned out. Clean and simple cards are the hardest for me, for some reason!

Feeling Sentimental Sale-a-bration

Feeling Sentimental

This is one of my favorite Sale-a-bration items that can be chosen, FREE with your $50 purchase between January 22nd and March 22nd. That’s right, Sale-a-bration starts next week! If you haven’t gotten your Sale-a-bration brochure with the 19 products that you can choose free, email me and I’ll send you a copy. This is my favorite time of year at Stampin’ Up!

I chose the phone booth for a more masculine looking card, but I adore the other vintage images in this set as well. (A vintage bicycle and Ferris wheel). Love, Love, LOVE, this set! The card is very simple stamping and a little distressing.

Apothecary Art and New Catalog Info

As you can see from the countdown clock in my sidebar, it is only 2 weeks till the new Annual Catalog goes live!  There are so many fun new stamps and tools and I think you will love the new streamlined style of the catalog.

The catalog is a little smaller and Stampin Up has made them much less expensive for us to purchase (and less expensive for you too!) So I am changing up the way I handle the catalog a little bit. I am excited to announce that this year I will be able to offer them free with a $25 purchase (one per customer) or for those who just want to purchase a catalog with no order, the catalog price will be $5. You will still get one free when you host a workshop. I’ll also be doing some random giveaways if you would like to earn one free that way. Also, for any customer who purchases at least $50 from me over this catalog year, you will earn next years catalog free as well, and will be able to pick it up as soon as they begin arriving next year. I love that this new system will allow me to give free catalogs to my current customers as we go forward. As always, owning the catalog will insure that you will receive the Holiday and Spring catalogs. These will be much larger than the previous mini catalogs, so they will have many more seasonal products in them and they will be current for a full 5 months. More time to get your favorite goodies!

Contact me to reserve your catalog!

Apothecary Art

I used a lot of different sets on this card. I really like the way many of our vintage sets work together, it makes it fairly easy to put together a collage type card. I started with the Parlor Prints background stamped in Crumb cake on Crumb cake card stock. Then I randomly stamped Established Elegance images in Soft Suede. They were placed so they would show behind the focal piece. I stamped and cut out the Apothecary Art image and added a layer of soft suede card stock which I cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits. Finally, I added a couple of strips of designer paper and did some distressing and sponging. These are really simple techniques, but combined with these beautiful images, it’s easy to get that vintage look. I am stocking up on this Beau Chateau paper, it’s a favorite and I hate to see it retire!

That first “Morning Cup”

Guess who has a new computer! Guess who has been pulling her hair out for a week, after her older computer died along with her back up storage drive? Guess who is very glad that her darling husband convinced her to buy a new computer before the old one crashed completely, therefore allowing her to save most of her precious data! Yep, that would be me. So glad to be back in the cyber universe again.

I have a card to share today! I had a lot of fun with the coffee theme.

Morning Cup

This is a simple card but it has some neat elements that tie the “Morning Cup” theme together.  The Newsprint DSP is perfect, of course.  I distressed a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, added “cup rings” and spritzed it with Early Espresso ink. The linen thread was the last little touch. I like it!

Thanks for looking!
