Timeless Talk in Black and White

timeless talk

Here is a card we did for workshops last fall. Timeless Talk is one of my very favorite, and one of the most popular sets from the current catalog. I love that the style is contemporary and vintage at the same time. I decided to use the Modern Medley DSP which is perfect for the Black and White color technique, even though the paper is black and vanilla. Close enough. The technique is simple enough. Design something using only the colors Black and White. It makes stunning cards.

Stamp something happy today!!

Sale-A-Bration Banner Blast

follow my heart

Sale-A-Bration starts tomorrow! I used one of the free items that you can earn during this favorite Stampin’ Up! promotion. The two banners with the hearts are from the Banner Blast set that has a matching punch. The gold heart vellum is from the new Spring Occasions catalog.

I embossed the sentiment and then cut the heart with a framelit and layered the vellum over the sentiment. All of the images are stamped in Versamark ink and then coated with gold embossing powder and heat embossed. Very old school valentine and technique, with the red and gold, but I kind of like it!

Thanks for looking!

Joyful Christmas

Joyful Christmas

I have had to emboss this set every time I have used it. It just doesn’t need much else and the heat embossing is so pretty. The flowers and leaves are hand cut. That seems like a lot of work, but they really cut pretty quickly. I just popped them on a dry embossed background (retired folder) to finish the card.

I hope you get to stamp today!

Another Thank You

Another Thank You

We used the embossing resist technique on this simple card that we made for Stamp Camp last month. Embossing resist is an easy technique where you emboss your focal image in clear ink on your white or vanilla card stock and then stamp over it with your background images. The ink won’t stick to the Clear Embossing (after it has been heated). When you wipe the ink away from your embossed image (with a soft tissue) the original card stock color shows through.

On this card we stamped the large Thank you image from Another Thank You on Very Vanilla card stock and then over stamped it with the background leaves from Gently Falling. We then sponged any remaining uninked cardstock with a light rub of So Saffron to make the entire image pop. Then we just layered that piece on our Old Olive card stock base. Easy Peasy.

Thanks for looking

Faux Chalk From My Heart

From My Heart

Here is another card that I made using the Faux Chalk technique. I embossed the images from the Creative Elements and From My Heart sets in white EP and then drew in some lines and highlights with a white watercolor pencil. I finished it off by sponging on some “chalk smudges” using Whisper White craft ink. I think the doily trim sets it off nicely.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Chalk Talk

Chalk Talk

The new Annual Catalog is officially live and full of wonderful new things. The Chalk Talk set is one of my favorites! I am kind of hooked on this technique (Faux Chalk) so it is wonderful to have some images that make it quick and easy!

The fussiest part of this card is the bow. I just sponged some “chalk” on Basic Black card stock. You could use chalk if you have it, but I prefer our Whisper White craft pad and a sponge.

I stamped and cut out the image (Black StazOn on Whisper white). There are framelits for this set! Next, I sponged a doily with tea stain and added an embossed border. The vanilla flowers have been smushed  into the primrose petal pad to add some color (yes, smushed is the technical term). Love how this one turned out.

I hope you get to stamp today!

Chalkboard Art Technique

Chalk technique

This is the masculine card that we made at Stamp Camp last month for Valentines Day. I really like the way it turned out, so I used it for my Darling husband’s valentine. He loved the new technique. The technique is very simple. Add a chalkboard background by rubbing a little chalk or white ink on black or green card stock with a sponge. I like to emboss my main images using white ep to make them easier to work with. You can then add depth, detail and even color with colored pencils or our white chalk pen. Add additional elements by stamping in white ink with no embossing. Be sure to add those elements after the embossing or they will grab your powder.

Have fun trying this technique!

Beautiful Birthday Pennant card

Beautiful Birthday

This is another version of a card that I shared a few weeks ago. Clean and simple. The Happy Birthday stamp is called Beautiful Birthday. I really like these single sentiments and the smaller sets that just have two or three sayings in them. It’s a really inexpensive way to build up your greeting options. This card called for a larger sentiment as a focal point and this stamp was perfect.

Thanks for looking!
