12 Gifts of Christmas

Tags til Christmas

These are the last two gifts in my 12 gifts of Christmas series. These are quick and easy to do, but show how easily you can personalize or dress up a simple little gift to give it that special touch.

The first is a popular idea, just fill a mug with baked goods or goodies of any kind and package it up with a pretty bow and tag. I actually bought this already packaged and just added the tag and bow.

Bells and Boughs

I made a bunch of these little candles for myself. I love the scented holiday candles, but when I buy the yummy smelling ones, I am hungry all the time! So I like to buy the votive candles and just burn them for a short time. I added our glass glitter to the base of the candle and they look so sparkly and festive in a little crystal holder. Just paint some glue on the candle and roll it in the glitter. Our glass glitter is so pretty. It’s made from real glass and gets a really nice antique look as it ages. Pop a couple of these candles in a cello bag with a topper for a nice little gift.

Thanks for looking!

Things I Love……..

Things I love

I love this little set. My daughter saw some bookmarks I had made, and asked me to make one for her. This set could have been made just for her, so I had to use it. I wanted to make a card to go along with them and this is what I came up with.

Things I love

The bookmarks are cut using the Two Tags Bigz die, and are held into place with magnets at the base. I used the Word Window punch to create a little pocket to hold the bookmarks inside the card.

CD or DVD Envelope

This project was very easy and I must admit, it is one of my favorites. We all love music at our house. I say that without a bit of exaggeration. We often spend an evening listening to music and chatting rather than watching television and rarely does a Christmas or birthday go by without a request for a particular CD. I must also admit that I am addicted to the digital music downloads on Amazon! You can own your favorite song in seconds and if you just like one or two songs on an album, you can choose just those songs. You can find music that you just can’t find on the shelves at stores. So you can see where I am going with this. I created CD’s for each of us with personal favorites and I needed an envelope to present them in.

Tags til Christmas

I just took apart a CD envelope and traced it onto the paper. I needed several envelopes, so I traced the pattern onto a blank stencil sheet and cut it out. Once the envelope is traced and cut, simply score from one side of the flap to the next or use a bone folder to fold in the flaps. I used Dotto repositionable on the top flap, so that it can be re-sealed.

Gift Card or Money Holder

Greeting Card Kids

Can you tell which are my favorite toys to play with this season? Greeting Card Kids, the Northern Flurries embossing folder, and the colors blue and red. I can’t stop myself!

This is a gift so many of us give during the holidays and there are so many different ways to present them. I wanted to incorporate a gift card or money holder into a card. I also wanted to make one that would be very quick to mass produce if necessary, which always brings the Big Shot to mind for me. This is what I came up with.

The image was the only thing that was a little time consuming on this card, but it really didn’t take that long. I used my quick watercolor technique. My New Year’s resolution is to learn how to use my new camera and all the technology to edit and upload videos, so hopefully that will happen in the first week or so of January! I think I’ll make that technique the first video. It is really simple and just uses the markers and aqua painter.

Greeting card kids

I spritzed the card using the Silver Foil Smooch Spritz. I love the overall shimmery look it creates on the card stock. Very pretty. I can never do justice to the shimmer or bling in my photo’s.

Gift card

I decided that our scallop envelope would be the perfect gift card or money holder. So easy! I created the little pocket and then attached a piece of lace to the back of the envelope with glue dots. Then I just laid the card in the envelope and tied it into place. The sentiment looks crooked in this photo, but really the envelope is placed on a slant on the inside of the card.

Word Play Tote

The seventh gift of Christmas is this quick and easy tote full of all occasion cards. I made the tote festive for the holidays, but I wanted the cards to be all occasion. I chose colors from the holiday paper and used those colors on the cards.

The tote was very easy. It is an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of designer paper scored from each end at 4 1/2 and from each side at 1 3/8. Two snips on each side made little flaps that form the side of the tote. The tote handles are just strips of DSP that are attached with brads and card stock punched pieces using the round tab punch. I trimmed away part of punched piece. This makes the handle sturdier and really dresses up the tote. Paula Holsey sent each of her guests home from her recent workshop with a similar little bag and I designed this one from hers.

This project really went together quickly. The cards are clean and simple designs and were a snap to stamp. Everyone can use all occasion cards so this gift is as great to give as it is to receive!

Inkspirations Christmas Blog Tour

Welcome to the……

I hope you are enjoying the tour. If you started at the Inkspirations Challenge blog you probably just arrived here from Andreas fabulous blog!.

We are highlighting Christmas gifts on the tour, and so I am continuing with the 12 gifts of Christmas theme that I have been showing on my blog. I’ll be adding gift ideas throughout the weekend and next few days, so feel free to check back for more gifting inspiration.

The first item I have for you (or 5th in my 12 gifts series) is a simple but very festive box that is filled with candy treats. I used the #2 box die and I wanted to mimic a beautifully wrapped gift box. As with all of our dies, these go together very quickly and I simply added a satin ribbon and a quick and easy tag. Any of our die cut boxes or containers are perfect for a candy treat that makes a quick gift for teachers, co-workers, party guests or anyone else you may want to remember with a little something special.

This next item is a tea bag holder. You could use this as a simple little gift or add it as a tag to a special mug, tea pot or box of someone’s favorite specialty tea.

The tea bags are tucked into a stamped glassine bag and tied inside the card.

I printed a fun little poem on the back of the tea bag holder. This would be perfect to tuck into the card of someone dear who won’t be home for the holiday.

Sew Suite

Sew Suite

Here is the 4th item in my 12 Gifts of Christmas series. I’ll be adding several more gift ideas over the weekend, beginning Friday when I will be participating in a blog tour that is highlighting Christmas Gifts!

This sweet little gift features a sewing kit and mini post it note key ring which fit nicely in this cute purse tote! If you aren’t recognizing the stamps and paper that I used for these projects, it’s because they are brand new releases coming in the new Occasions mini catalog in January. As usual, this mini is chock full of amazing new stamps and accessories and this gift pack features the new Oh Sew Suite. There are stamps, rub-ons, fabrics, buttons, brads, paper and trims all with this adorable sewing theme. So much fun!

To create the purse tote, I used the Fancy Favor and Scallop Envelope Bigz dies as well as the Tasteful Trim die. The sewing kit is put together like a matchbook, with the small ziploc bag stapled inside. There is still room in the little purse tote to add a lip balm, candies or any other handy purse necessity you may think of.
