World Card Making Day

Wandering words

Did you know that there is a special holiday just for card makers? There is! This Saturday, Oct 3rd is World Card Making Day. It began in 2006, when Paper Crafts magazine wanted to celebrate card crafters all over the country. It has caught on world wide, So now we celebrate World Card Making Day on the first Saturday in October.

In honor of the occasion, I am planning a little fun on my blog this Saturday. What’s more fun than a little FREE stuff?!! You’ll want to check back on Saturday for the details, but be prepared to play along and make a card. You’ll have till Sunday to enter. There will also be a Mystery Hostess Event going on this weekend with fun specials, so check back and join the celebration!

Some of you may be wondering if my stamp room burned down and the only set I was able to save was this Autumn Splendor set! No, I just love it and can’t stop stamping with it. I am also in love with the coordinating Autumn Meadows DSP. Together, they’re a FAB thing! They are both in the new Holiday Mini Catalog. This card also features a set from the mini called Wandering Words.

Holiday Ribbon Share

I have had a few of you ask about doing a Ribbon Share. What is that, you ask? In short, several people participate and split a few rolls of ribbon. This is great for those who may want a variety of ribbon but do not need or want to invest in, 10 yards of each kind. I thought we might start with a Holiday Ribbon Share that would give us a variety of ribbons for fall and Christmas projects! If you would like to participate, let me know as soon as possible. If you live locally, I will deliver  to you or you can pick up your share at stamp camp. If you would like to participate by mail, there will be an additional postage fee.  Each share requires 5 participants and I have rounded everything off so that each person will pay $20 (for 2 or 3 rolls). That means you will be receiving 2 yards of each of the following ribbons below. That is 30 yards of ribbon or cord for $20. The variety consists of all the new ribbon from the Holiday Mini Catalog and several additional ribbons from the catalog that will enhance your fall, holiday and winter cards. Call or email me at Belinda@stampinpad.com to participate!

Autumn Splendor

Autumn Splendor

More fall fun with the Autumn Splendor set! These are cards we have been doing at workshops and Stamp Camp this month. Both are very simple in design but the embossed background really adds such a beautiful effect to the card, and it is so easy to do! Just slide your cardstock into the folder and then run it through the Big Shot Machine.

For this card we just added a few cut out leaves, buttons and a punched sentiment.

Stampin’ Stuff

Stamps: Autumn Splendor and Teeny Tiny Wishes

Inks: Really Rust and Always Artichoke Classic Inks

Paper: Naturals White, Really Rust and Always Artichoke card stock

Fun Stuff: Big Shot Machine and Finial Press Embossing Folder, Modern Label Punch, Vintage Brads, Earth Elements Buttons, Embroidery thread, Mini Glue Dots

Autumn Splendor

This card also uses the Autumn Splendor set and no ink! We stamped the image using the watercolor crayons. This is a fun technique to use when you need gradient color and this is the perfect set for it! Simply apply the color directly to the stamp with the crayon. Be careful to make sure the entire image is colored. Use two to three colors on your image. When you have applied the crayon, spritz the stamp with a fine mist of water and then stamp directly onto your cardstock. The water will blend the colors and you will get a lovely watercolor effect.

Tip:When adhering embossed or textured card stock, I like to use our Tombow Multi glue for a more permanent bond.

Paper: Very Vanilla, More Mustard and Really Rust card stock

Fun Stuff: Big Shot Machine and Finial Press Embossing Folder, Very Vanilla 1/4 inch grosgrain Ribbon, Watercolor Crayons, Distressing tool from the Cutter Kit

I love this set! The weather this week really has me thinking fall. I am traveling with my darling husband this weekend, and there are festivals going on in all the little town’s around us, we plan to enjoy a couple and I thought this card was perfect for the occasion.

This was one of our stamp camp cards this month. The image is stamped on our watercolor paper in Black Staz On Ink and colored using ink refills and the aqua painter.

The sentiment is stamped on our twill tape in Staz On Ink.

A Scary Skeleton and a Blog Special!

Scary Skeleton

Geesh! I can’t believe it has been over two weeks since my last post. Bad blogger, bad blogger! So sorry. I can’t say that I have had any huge activities going on, just a whole lot of those everyday life things! A birthday for my husband and for Aubrey (I’ll be sharing her first birthday goodies, here). My poor doggie has been sick, so he needs lots of attention. Fun fall workshops and stamping events and hey, if you think my blog has been neglected, you should see my yard! It needs mowing every two days with all of the rain we have had, and it just started raining again! Really, as I was typing this! 20% chance….Right! Oh well, I guess that gives me some free time to work on my blog today!

This is a quick and cute little basket, using our Baskets and Blooms die a little differently. Instead of using the basket bottom to make a round basket, I only used the sides and cut off the little flaps that connect them. On our demonstrator website they formed the basket by folding a strip of card stock, but I wanted something very sturdy, so I used the scored basket that we have been doing for years and added the sides to that (OK, AND I couldn’t find the instructions again, when I went to make my basket). Very quick to do. I will have to create a tutorial for that basket. The stamping is quick, too. If you are going to make several treat gifts, you want quick and cute. I embossed the skeleton and the sentiment using white detail powder. You could make these baskets even more quickly, if you just stamped using our Whisper White Craft Ink. I could have layered the sentiment on a punched element, but I really like the clean simple look, so I left it alone.

OK! To say I am sorry for neglecting you all so, how about a Blog Special?!

I am offering 25% off on the Big Shot machine until September 30th. That’s $25 OFF! Of course, if you want to add a couple of dies to your order to get hostess benefits, you will get the full price credit of $99.95 toward your total. Call or Email me before September 30th, to take advantage of this special! Belinda@stampinpad.com
