Snow Swirled

snow swirled

I have been playing with the snow swirled set! Lots of bling on this one. The snow flakes are stamped in Whisper White Ink and then embossed with Iridescent Ice EP.

There are two strips of Sticky Strip tape covered with Dazzling Diamond glitter behind the Baja Breeze grosgrain ribbon. I added Dazzle Effects on the Snow Swirled tree and last but not least, I used Rhinestone brads and Felt Snowflakes for a little extra fun.

Thanks for stopping by!

Cello Topper

Spotlight on Christmas

I wanted to make a quick post with a little more detail on the Big Shot.

This cello topper was made using the Top Note Bigs Die.

Very quick little project using the Spotlight on Christmas set and the 5 petal flower punch. The designer paper is trimmed around the perforated edge to make a nice layer.  The flower petals are edged with a gold pen. I wish I had some neat chocolates for the cello bag, but had to settle for york peppermint patties. The good stuff keeps disappearing ……………

Big Shot

This is the Big Shot die cutting machine. The dies roll through the machine which puts pressure on them to cut or emboss the paper.

Big Shot

You will use a die, paper, and cutting mats layered together to form a “sandwich”. Different dies require different sandwich configurations, depending on how thick it is.

Big Shot

This is the pillowbox die after it comes through the machine. Some dies have score or perforation lines.

You can view the dies that are available in the back of the Mini Holiday Catalog by clicking on the link on the right.

Pillow Boxes and Tags

pillow boxes

I have been playing some more with my Big Shot and this time the pillow box die that I just got. Aren’t these cute!?

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the die cut craze, I’ll show a few pictures tomorrow, so you’ll know what I am talking about.

These little pillow boxes are made just like the larger ones that we cut from a pattern and score, only they are much smaller and the scoring is done for you.

pillow box

This one uses the snow flakes from Merry and Bright, embossed in silver detail EP. The tags are also embossed in silver and cut out.

The Spot Light on Christmas set makes really quick tags, because they  work with our punches.

The card stock is Brocade Blue and Brushed Silver.

glitter glue

Here is a really cool tip for you……

My favorite way to apply glitter is to put down a few drops of Crystal Effects and sprinkle some dazzling diamonds on it. It gives the glitter a dimensional look, and it is beautiful! It is also very messy, just ask any hostess how long it lingers around her home after a stamp party!

Now you can make your own glitter glue. Just clean out a small container (I used an old glitter bottle, you can use an ink refill bottle when you are through with it) Fill it one third to half full with Dazzling Diamonds glitter and then fill your bottle the rest of the way with Crystal Effects. Use a tooth pick to mix it together well.  You can also have colored glitter by adding a few drops of your favorite color of ink. The best part is that it goes on with much less mess! Of course, if you love wearing glitter and just don’t feel completely made up without a little dazzle from head to toe, you can always sprinkle a little more glitter on top, for when you need blinding sparkle.

Here is another tip…..keep your new Dazzle Effects and your Crystal Effects stored upside down. It will keep the lid from clogging and will also keep the bubbles to a minimum. It will also keep your glitter sifted to the top of the bottle where you want it. And one more tip, If you are going to travel with your Dazzle or Crystal Effects, keep them upside down but carry them in a plastic baggy and check that the lids are very tight. Yeah, don’t ask.

acetate pillow box

OK, making an acetate pillow box from a pattern would be kind of tricky, but it is super easy with the Pillow Box Bigz die. You may need to do a little extra scoring with a stylus to get a really good crease, but these things pop together really quickly. All you need is one little strip of glue or sticky strip down the flap.

I just used an acetate transparency from the office supply store

Merry and Bright

Aren’t the see through boxes fun?

I used Merry and Bright and some Dazzle Effects on this tag. The Colors are Real Red, Glorious Green, and Green Galore to match the M&M’s.

Christmas Stamp a Stack

Deer Friends

These are the cards we created at our Christmas Card Stamp-A-Stack!

Kiwi Kiss and Real Red go really great together. This card was pretty quick to do, using punches and images that need no coloring!

Big on christmas

I love the embossing folders that are out there. You know, in those places that we don’t speak of in Stampin’ Up land! I don’t use a lot on non-Stampin’ Up! contraband, but these little folders really snazz up a card quickly. Anyway, they work with the Big Shot and so yes, you will see them occasionally. I hear we are supposed to be getting some of these that are Stampin’ Up exclusive and I can’t wait, because I loooove them. When I saw the snowflakes, I just had to have them to use with this set!

Snow Swirled

I love this card! I think this is my favorite new color combination too. It is the Not Quite Navy and  Baja Breeze. You can’t see the sparkles but we added dazzling diamonds using crystal effects.

We inked up the stamp with the Baja Breeze and then used the Not Quite Navy marker to draw in the second color.

Winter Post

When I saw these skaters in the Mini Catalog, I knew I had to use them with Lovely as a Tree to create a scene! (I hope this set never gets retired, it works with so many other sets!)

It is a pretty simple card, but the Kraft card stock is perfect for this vintage set and of course,  the Top Notes Bigz die steps it up to a WOW card easily.

A Christmas Cardinal

This is another of my favorite sets this season. I knew I wanted to use it for the Stamp-A-Stack. I try to keep these cards fairly simple, since we are doing so many in one evening. Using the word window punch to highlight the sentiment really stepped this one up. We had to punch twice to make the window big enough to fit the saying.

Happy Stampin!

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my new website and blog! I am so excited to finally be posting.

The purpose in creating this site was to have a place for you, my wonderful stamping friends to be able to find the wealth of stamping techniques and samples that we have explored over the last 10 years! (I know, I can’t believe it has been that long!) I spend a lot of time surfing the web for ideas and then when I do find something I like, I can never find it again.  So, I wanted a site that was easy to navigate and one which makes it easy to find  what you are looking for. I hope you enjoy it. Please be patient with me as I upload content. I am going to try to update a lot of the stuff I have, but you will also find some old favorites here.

I really had not intended to become a blogger, but I found that this format was the best for what I wanted to do. So, don’t expect posts every day or even every week! When there is something new and exciting at Stampin’ Up! I will post it on my blog and I will post projects here from time to time as well. Some days I will just be posting to the gallery or the tutorial page, and some days I will just be tending to my family, home and customers.  My goal here is to collect a wealth of resources for my wonderful customers. I hope you find it useful. Please feel free to remind me of projects or techniques that you would like to see added.

I want to give many, many thanks to Jen Clendineng for building my site for me and for her patience! I told her what I wanted, and then changed my mind about a hundred times and she built exactly what had been rolling around in my head. How she made any sense of it, I’ll never know! Thanks so much Jen!  Thanks also to Melissa Kulesa for creating my adorable banners.

And now to my first tutorial!

Happy Blessings box

I love my new Big Shot (the new die cut machine and dies from Stampin’ Up!)! I saw a box made from the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die. I don’t know how the original was done, but this is what I came up with.

die cut box

Cut 4 envelopes using the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die.

I have had good luck with cutting through 4-5 pieces of card stock at a time, but for good scored edges I just cut 2 at a time.

die cut box

Cut one of the side flaps off of each die cut. Be sure to remove  the same side each time.

die cut box

Add sticky tape right next to the scored edge of the flap for a good looking edge.

I like to use permanent adhesive for three dimensional projects like this.  Our tombow multi would also work well.

die cut box

Attach each envelope to the next, in the order shown above.

Use a bone folder to get a really good bond.

die cut box

For the bottom, fold in two of the flaps and then add sticky strip to the the bottom two as shown and fold in.

die cut box

You will create an open ended box that has a really cute scalloped edge. I love it!

Happy Stampin’!
